Differences between American and British Weddings

Aside from the accent, there are lots of differences when it comes to American and British Wedding. So before you tie the knot, think more than one hundred times as to what you truly want in life.
If you are going to have an altar date with a British gentleman, then you need to be prepared with the following British customs and traditions in their wedding. Before the nuptial takes place, there is a need for “the banns” which is a notice posted in the church to announce the wedding of the soon to be husband and wife. Without “the banns” the marriage will be considered null and void. There is no such thing as “the banns” in an American wedding. So you do not have to undergo such process if you want to marry an American man. As a British bride, you need to sew a good luck charm in your wedding dress. If you are an American bride, you do not need to sew anything in your wedding gown. In fact you are not allowed to fit your gown before the wedding. The British wedding ceremony usually takes place at noon, with the bride and groom exchanging their vows that they take each other as husband and wife no matter what at the doorway of the chapel. In American wedding, the ceremony is usually in the morning. In a British wedding, there is a tradition that a portion of the wedding cake is preserved to be eaten by the couple on their first wedding anniversary. There is no such tradition in American wedding. On the contrary, the American couples usually shove wedding cake in each other’s faces.
But in the end, it does not really matter what customs or traditions you will follow. The most important thing is that you love each other ‘til death do you part.
