Wedding planning

A wedding is the moment that many married couples will consider to be the happiest of their lives. A lot of work goes into the planning of a wedding, because you want everything to go perfectly on the day and there are no second chances. The first major thing to remember is that it is you and your partner who are getting married, therefore it is the pair of you who need to decide how to plan your wedding and how you want the day to run. By all means take advice and help from family and friends, but don’t forget that this is your day and no one else’s.

1000 Questions For Couples, by best-selling author Michael Webb – What you absolutely must know about your relationship – test your compatibility and grow deeper in love.

One of the first things you’ll have to decide is the budget for your wedding. It is not the nicest aspect of the day to think about, but you must do so early on in your wedding planning. The last thing you want is for the costs of your wedding to spiral out of control and land you in debt. Being in debt is not the way to start your married life together, so be sure to set a budget early on and stick to it.

The other factor to consider early on in your wedding planning is the date you wish to get married. For obvious reasons, most couples favour the summer months – and, also for obvious reasons, that’s when likely venues for the ceremony and the reception are most heavily booked. So if you have your hearts set on a summer wedding, be sure to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. Also remember that the price you pay will increase due to the higher demand for the summer period, so try to balance your dates with the size of your budget.

The availability problems that lead to premium prices for a summer wedding also affect other wedding services such as the photographer and caterers. Prices will be higher than in winter months because of the simple rule of supply and demand.

You should also start thinking early about planning your wedding reception. As with the venue for the ceremony, venues for your reception will also be booked very quickly. The choice of venue here must fit in not only with your budget but also with the needs of your guests. Try to have a rough idea in mind of how many guests you wish to invite and select your venue accordingly. If you find that all the venues suitable for your chosen number of guests are too expensive for your budget, then you may need to consider cutting down the guest list.
