While your wedding will probably be the happiest day of your life, the days leading up to it can be some of the most stressful. For this reason, more and more couples are hiring the services of a wedding planner to help with the proceedings. Obviously there are some big advantages to hiring a wedding planner but you must take care to hire the right person. There has been an influx into this industry of people who may not be experienced or qualified enough to cope with your needs.

When choosing your wedding planner, try to look past their experience and qualifications and see what type of person they are. You should feel that you can trust them totally and that you can be totally honest with them about your needs and expectations. Communication is another factor; do you feel confident talking to them? Does the wedding planner take on board your ideas or drown them out with their own? The personality of the wedding planner is just as important as their qualifications. As long as you feel comfortable talking to them and can leave them to do their job, then you are in a good position to establish a good working relationship.

Every little girl will dream of the perfect wedding, and many will know what they want their perfect wedding dress to look like. Some will even know what they want it made out of. This is something that many men may not appreciate – any old wedding dress will not do, because for years the bride has planned in her mind how she wants her wedding day to go, down to the last detail. The dress is probably one of the most important parts to her.

Be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to shop for a wedding dress. It is a huge decision and you do not want to be in a position where you are rushing the fittings or, even worse, worrying about finding the right dress in time. If possible start looking for your dress about six months before your wedding. Even if you just start looking in your local area for shops where you can go, or online at pictures, get started as soon as possible.

The importance of your wedding invitations extends beyond the usual details such as the date and location. You can create a good impression right from the start, and give your guests an idea of the theme of your wedding if you have chosen one.

Obviously you cannot order your wedding invitations until you have finalised all of the crucial details such as time, date and location. However, you can start to think about the design of your invitations straight away in tandem with thinking about the theme of your wedding. When you have the crucial details finalised, double-check them again to make sure you have everything correct. The last thing you want is to waste money printing invitations that contain the wrong details or, worse still, not notice the errors and have the guests show up on the wrong day! For this reason make sure that you proof-read the wedding invitation details several times and get someone else to do the same, just to be sure.

Although this isn’t top of the list of priorities for your wedding day, choosing the right food can often help to make your wedding reception as special as the ceremony – not just for you, but for your family and guests. After all, the last thing you want is a case of food poisoning for your guests or – even worse – for you on your honeymoon!

The style of the food will depend on your budget. If money is not a problem then a full three course sit-down meal is an option; whereas a simple buffet can be just as effective if you are planning your wedding on a budget and wish to spend the money on other aspects of your wedding day.

Traditionally weddings have been held either in a church, synagogue, temple or other religious building where the bride and groom share a common faith, or at a register office. However, in the modern age more and more couples are choosing more unusual locations such as beaches and sports venues. The decision of where to hold your wedding is not as straightforward as you may think, so take your time in choosing the right location.

If the bride and groom are of the same religion, then choosing the right location can be very straightforward; the only major problem that may arise is the availability of dates. Be aware that many churches and other places of worship are limited in the number of weddings they can accommodate, so be sure to book as far in advance as possible to ensure that you get the date you want.
