If you’re both keen on angling, why not get married on the shores of beautiful Hubbard Lake in Michigan? You can exchange your vows in the morning, enjoy a quick spot of fishing and use your catch to cater for the reception.

Hubbard Lake is seven miles long and two miles wide, and is over 80 feet deep at its deepest point. It’s well stocked with bass, yellow perch, northern pike, tiger muskie, trout and walleye. It’s a favourite spot for angling in the summer. But if you fancy a winter wedding there’s good ice-fishing there as well.

You might struggle to find a convenient hotel, though – Alcona County had a population of only 11,000 at the last census. But you could always camp out…

The nearest major airport is Detroit Metro (DTW).

Traditionally weddings have been held either in a church, synagogue, temple or other religious building where the bride and groom share a common faith, or at a register office. However, in the modern age more and more couples are choosing more unusual locations such as beaches and sports venues. The decision of where to hold your wedding is not as straightforward as you may think, so take your time in choosing the right location.

If the bride and groom are of the same religion, then choosing the right location can be very straightforward; the only major problem that may arise is the availability of dates. Be aware that many churches and other places of worship are limited in the number of weddings they can accommodate, so be sure to book as far in advance as possible to ensure that you get the date you want.
